The debut of an all new band featuring GOD ,Dylan ,and The Katter. It is a multi-faceted experience ,with songs of varying lengths and textures. Classified as a dissonant/prog/space/punk/blues/noise band ,this shit really grabs you by the boo-boo ,and tears it the fuck off!! The shortest number is just over a minute ,while the longest clocks in at almost 27 and a half minutes! This is experimental progressive rock ,in the vein of The Godz , Chrome, early Pink Floyd, Hawkwind , The Dead C , maybe even a little of the ol' Cat Machine!
Just really great tripping stuff ,good for drinkin' to ,and just zoning out and listening. You will be transported to another dimension! John Kaagootaabaa sings on these couple of tracks ,that are both just over 2 minutes each. His reborn again christian pal ,Johnny ,plays guitar. The first number is a psych/blues workout ,while the second track starts out sounding almost oriental in nature ,and instrumentally like a keyboard ,but soon evolves into a blues rocker. Vocals are distorto-flanged on both ditties. This is a neat diversion ,on the way to the next full-length Kaagootaabaa album.

Dylan is Nasal Death and Stupid Pooping Crap ,and Frank Goshit also does Belly Duke.Frank And I (as Noisekillr) also just did a splitteo (see above this post). This is cool tho' ,Nasal Death is a parody/tribute to Napalm Death ,but instead of grindcore ,you get nosecore! Lots of sniffing and sniffling.Frank Goshit mostly talk/sings and hits things with a stick.Stupid Pooping Crap almost sounds like a sea shanty,as if sung by Dylan.And Belly Duke is Frank playing his stomach as a drum ,and talk/singing again,nearly matching Stupid Pooping Crap in the sea shanty department.Only 20 copies were made. Now out of print ,they were on several compilations ,had music on skateboard and snowboard videos ,and put out a few full-lengths. On this Fat Tuesday ,I am cooking up some seafood etouffee ,have a king cake at the ready ,and I have this curious piece of instrumental music of The French Quarter ,in New Orleans. Happy Mardi Gras! says I. Lightweight accordion-led numbers ,with a small backing band. Could not find anything about this guy on the web ,but that is about the wildest album cover I've seen in ages! This goes out to everyone partying on Bourbon Street and the surrounding areas. I was there for Mardi Gras in 2005 ,just before Hurricane Katrina all but wiped out New Orleans. The following year's (2006) Mardi Gras celebration was low-key and very sad.So many lost their homes,possessions ,even family members ,and the really tragic part is that if you go to some of the parishes,piles of debris and rubble ,left behind by Katrina , have never been cleaned up.Our government is to blame for this travesty,they should have sent cleanup crews immediately.
The french part of their culture can be heard on this recording ,as the artist & song titles are french. Well I'm getting ready to chow down on some homemade creole cooking ,so I'll leave you with this. As a side note ,I noticed that every single song on this album ,ends exactly the same! These are ,I believe ,alternate mixes of tunes from his 1988 LP ,"Comin' Correct In 88" ,and this was his fifth 12" single. MC Shy D , or Peter Jones ,as his friends like to call him ,succesfully sued Skyywalker Records for 1.2 million in unpaid royalties.Sporting the Miami bass sound ,"Shake It" ,has been used in dozens of "big booty" vids ,with girls shakin'their asses all over! While ,"It's Just My Caddy" ,could be used as a professional golfer's theme song. Now leading a second life as a DJ at a sports bar! Free crab legs w/purchase of a drink! The record label's warning reads: "unauthorized duplication will get you messed up by the ghetto style dj's" Should I be scared?

BUBBA FOWLER - And Then Came Bubba

Starting his musical career as part of a duo (with Chuck Woolery!) as "The Avant-Garde" with the singles "Yellow Beads" (re-done on this LP) ,and "Naturally Stoned" (a top-40 hit!) in 1967. Elkin "Bubba" Fowler, also played guitar for Bob Dylan and Leonard Cohen ,both of whom he resembles ,musically ,lyrically ,and vocally on this 1970 album. "The Pounding Status Quo" ,is a Dylan rip ,and one of the best tracks here. Other standouts include ,"Listen Big City" ,"Next Year This Time" , and "The Messenger Of Life". The re-make of his former group's ,"Yellow Beads" ,is a hippy story ,and much of the material is either dated or has much to do with what's happening in the world right now! I remember snatching this up while thrifting ,and taking it over to Joel's house for a spin on his turntable. We just fell about in laughter ,looking at Bubba's front cover pic ,and hearing him totally aping Dylan's whole schtick! What a blast!

Pristine vinyl ,not a pop or click or scratch to be found! ONE FELL SWOOP - Live At The Draft House 2/7 or 2/14/1992

It's a mystery when this show was recorded. It's listed on the cassette cover as the 7th ,but on another mix it's listed as the 14th. I put up the flyers from both shows ,one of which was not recorded ,at least I could not locate it in the vault.Black Nerd only played with us once ,and this was not the time ,despite the flyer. Pillows ,was a Michael Griffin (rip) noise project ,and I'm not sure about the Nomadz ,but I do know Boneshaker's original name was The North Cape Nomadz ,then TRV , for Tony,Ron,Vance ,the boys in the band.This is not your typical OFS live tape. It's pretty much Chipmonk's show ,as ,unbeknownst to either Joel or I ,Chipmonk had placed the microphone we were recording the show with ,right in front of his amp. It's just like him to pull some shit like that ,and after only a few more shows together (posted here soon!) the band was over. Joel said this about the tape : "Of sub-bootleg quality,actually it barely qualifies as a bootleg". The vocals ,my guitar ,and the drums ,are virtually washed out by Chipmonk's wall of jealous noise.There are some fine moments here ,including an improv instro (Magic Bowel Movement -Symphony In E Minus) , a bunch of cover songs,a lengthy and funny version of "Teach Wants Quiet" ,and a spoken word ending ,"The Ant-ectdote" ,a story of ants that is a parable of our times (the 90's). The audience was small but receptive. If you love the Chipmonk ,this is the tape for you ,wah-wah pedal,feedback ,and all. Not the most even recording ,and probably one of the worst sounding live recordings ,we ever did. Thanks ,Chipmonk!

A massive set by OFS ,maybe their longest set ,ever! 11 original songs (including several improv instros!) and 15 cover songs by : The Stooges,Misfits(3x),The Fall,Syd Barrett,Black Sabbath,Black Flag,38 Special,Molly Hatchet,Led Zeppelin(2x),Pink Floyd(2x), and the Flamin' Groovies!The show was not well-attended ,probably due to the fiasco from the night before (1/31/1992 ,see below ,somewhwere) ,when I dissed on the crowd's beloved, Nirvana ,and half the people walked out! Since we played with Stimpy opening ,we were able to use their horns on one number here,the only time OFS ever used horns! Stimpy was just Ed and Sean Burch (Monson) ,and maybe Shane Carwile ,on this recording ,their one and only live gig. Billy ,Shane,and Sean ,had to leave ,to secure a gig in a new alternative club ,up near Port Charlotte. The Stimpy tracks are just fab ,first pumping quarters into the jukebox and singing along to Pink Floyd ,Bryan Adams ,and Led Zeppelin,(with added drums and sax!) ,followed by some hilarious announcements ,and finally an original improv ,based on one of Sean's earlier pieces. He announces us as a Russian saxophone band ,with appropriate accents. Funny as hell! The OFS , is punk-rockin' fun as well ,and we cover a bunch of our influences ,and play our own songs we re-learned from the original cassette tapes.Fun times ,and more to come!!

This is a re-post of a previously posted tape.(back in 2009) This time I give you the flyer for the actual show ,with our original logo and mascot(see above,duh!),plus Billy and Shane were at the Edison Mall ,handing out flyers to the show ,and Dave from Wendy's ,was on a book signing tour ,and Billy handed him a flyer ,which he then placed on the table in front of him.It can be seen in the pic above ,which was on the front page of our local ,Ft. Myers News-Press newspaper! How's that for publicity? The following is from the original posting ,where all is explained!:

Me,Joel and Chipmunk,in our little alt-rock trio,me and Chip on guitars,Joel on drums,except when he sings,me on drums,we all sing,mostly me.i wrote the lyrics and we cover,Flamin'Groovies,the Fall,Syd Barrett,Hendrix,Stooges,Sonic Youth,Led Zeppelin,and Black Flag.Kinda Electric Eels style,no bass,just guitars.we sound much different live,with a real drum kit,instead of our usual kit(see other One Fell Swoop posts for details)and the flyer on the other post is for this show ,the flyer on this post is for a show a week later,Black Nerd opened for us(re-posted below!),and we had a big crowd of locals who were rather pissed at my intro to"Red Letter Day"when i razz Nirvana for their sell out video(smells like...)on mtv at the time,lots of folks walked out after i make my comments,oh well,they missed the rest of a hell of a good show!We aquired a residence as the house band at the Draft House for some time after this.I was the one who got them to let us play and start a scene in our crappy little town.Kinda busted open the floodgates for a million embryo alt rock bands and punks to play and hang out, before that downtown was just drunken bums hangin at the bar.Lots more live tapes to come.The first track is an improv,which we usually used to apply to a regular set list,we'd always do a few improv jams.A fine document of a fantastic band,stay tuned for more! BLACK FOREST RAPE - Schwarzer Waldraub

The second phenomenal release from this up-and-coming ,almost indescribable band! Recorded in their hometown of Calw, in the Black Forest region of Germany. My pal over there ,Hans , he of the band Tyrantyr ,and master compiler of the Black Metal Cult series. His cousin provides the percussion ,a perfect foil to his friends black/death/doom/drone/psych/metal/
instrumental/stoner rock.
As you can see they used their native lingo for the album and song titles ,but if you download ,you will find the titles to be translated to english. The album title is just the band's name in German. 4 songs of varying lengths. The first track ,(Master Of The Whores), was previewed on the great, big Sluggisha #1000 compilation ,in a truncated (4:00) version , while here you have the full 26 minutes + album version! Trippy and distant ,making you feel drunk with cuntlove. The next track is based off a blues riff ,but degenerates several times into a psych/freakout meltdown. The third ,and shortest number here, is chunka-chunka thrash metal stylee ,and it all ends off with the final piece ,an atmospheric doom dirge ,using only the sounds of nature ,and a tolling bell. Fuckin' great band ,here ,mates! The zip contains more photos from the album cover sessions ,that weren't used!

Recorded live, 1/23/1992,(20 years ago ,today!), at Gramps,the Cat Machine house,and the typewriter case,pizza pan drum rim,hammer and pliers drumset is in full-effect.The first half is originals,the second half we cover: the Flamin' Groovies(twice), the Fall, Hendrix(2 hits), and Kiss. The between song banter is good for a few guffaws,and we were still re-learning these songs,picked from several sessions. Good for what it is. The song," I Need Cash",swipes a Kike riff! The first gig led to a residency as the "house" band of the Draft House, (for a few months), we actually cracked downtown wide open ,bringing in opening acts ,and making a place for kids to hang out ,and see and hear local and out-of-area bands. The title has to do with a girl that had a claw hand.Ed,Joel,and Chipmonk were once again graced with Billy Drake's prescence ,as well as Shane Carwile ,Sean Sommers,Dave (antelope leaps?) ,and it sounds as if Katie Ball stops by ,and possibly Kristy and Zolan. Recorded in Joel's room at Cat Machine House 1/11/1992 ,straight to boombox! At some point near the end of this recording ,our recording device began going south. You can actually hear the tape slowing down and making sense of the closing number "I Have Lost All Of My Motor Skills". I think we recorded the band Quaalude(slowest band in history! found on this blog!) on the same recorder ,that day or the next ,after it was acting up.Also of note that day ,some workers were beating on Gramp's roof,and you can hear it on the tracks ,"Beat On The Roof" , "Arty Party" ,and "Crazy Ass White Boys" . The first half of this tape is 6 songs ,all college rock and indie-punk alt-rock stuff.I also must have had the mohawk up on this day as I act and sound like a barnyard bird on ,"Rooster" ,an act I would pull out from time to time ,when the fin was up! This is a really good and strange one. Dig it . And Suzy ,if you're out there ,I don't know you ,but sorry 'bout that album title!

There is some harmonica and bongos here,and M.C. is backed up by Tio Frijol & The Soul Casserole (Tierra Del Fuego's finest!) ,and you'll also hear some flute,sax,piano ,and organ in addition to Mr. Osso's fine guitar jams!From 1974 ,recorded in New York ,on Axe Records(a division of Hardedge ,Inc.) ,and with that record company name and logo(see lower corner of album cover) ,you'd be expecting some metal or in my case some Mentors!But ,alas ,it is not to be ,this is just some jukin' blues that everyone should hear.The really downtrodden stuff comes on tracks like ,"Chances For Survival" ,and "Executioners". There's even a song that should have been featured on a movie soundtrack from recent times ,"Superbad Blues" ! I could definitely see (and hear) Dylan Houser ,settling into this sound as he grows older with his Bloodponies project.Pretty neat-o stuff ,and rare ,apparently!

ERIK AND THE PSYCHOS - Hey,Buttmonkey!

Discovered this on the web , a rare footnote in the annals of tardcore. This almost sounds like Ice Cream Sandwich Shit Head ,without his trademark acoustic guitar. The band is from New England. Erik, who is the frontman, pretty much did everything himself. The Psychos appear on only two tracks: "Freak-Out Musicians," and "Boogie Boo Boo." On this CD Erik plays a set of percussion instruments (a grill, a Mickey Mouse cup, a cardboard box) and throws in a few contemporary rock/pop culture soundbites for the hell-of-it. These are mainly used as segue pieces introducing each song. The CD is chock full of juvenile bathroom humor, esp. "The Cheese In My Shoe" and "Garbage Can Lids" -- these were the days of "Beevis and Butt-head" my friend. Unfortunately, Erik regrets it all. The Psychos have moved on and Erik refuses to even touch a drum set (or in this case, a Micky Mouse cup or a cardboard box). Recorded in 1995. Released Independently in 2000.It was all one track ,and I did my best to seperate the tracks,hopefully ,all is tard!

Ed, Joel ,and Chipmonk were joined by guitarist Billy Drake ,the pefect match to spar with Chipmonk's guitar wizardry.And spar they do! Some fine songs are enhanced by Billy's guest appearance ,harkening back to the glory days of the Cat Machine!There is a blow-out Stooges cover (Not Right) ,and it ends with a 12 second hardcore blast ,"Epcot Police State" In between all that though ,you have ace alt-rock ,indie -punk songs ,that the band was always known for. "Minturn ,We Hardly Knew Ye" ,pokes joking fun at Minty ,an older guy musician we knew ,who was arrested for some crap. Maybe a carry-over from Cat Machine's ,"I Hate Vacuums" , the song ,"Ukeleles Suck" is a one-minute blistering blast of anger at the stringed instrument. A few that Joel sings on ,"Lips Of Gods" and "Move Up" ,are true underground alt-pop gems."Born Again Maniac" ,has a tune that will stick in your brain sideways ,like a rotting fish lodged in a dead bear's craw,and will stay with you for days. Don't remind me!

This cdr ,by way of Noah Lyon a/k/a Doctor Ninja a/k/a Rocky Dentist , is a blueprint of the commandments of tardcore punk. This is one of the dumbest albums you are ever likely to hear ,right in the same alleyway as bands on Wheelchair,(Food is sampled several times ,and some of his hits are given remixes) and Sluggisha ,but with a twist. The music is almost entirely made up of samples ,from pop-culture songs ,and punk alike. The vocals are either Noah ruminating on some stupid or crude subject matter or another ,or sampled vocals ,with much weirdness interspersed throughout ,and crazy and funny samples between songs. UNICORN HOLE - Squadilah ,We Are Off!

Midi-metal,Digi-deathcore ,8-bit grindcore,whatever you wanna call it ,this band rules!! I recently discovered these guys from South Carolina ,and this is their first full length from back a few years ago , and includes all their previous demos ,plus a load of new stuff. Each of the 62 songs ,is exactly 30 seconds long. The song titles and lyrics are a gas ,and the black metal style vocalizations ,over the computer-generated death metal music ,is a riot! These guys should have their own beer or something ,they're that good! I have more stuff by them ,and I featured a few of their songs on my Christmas comp (Santa Is Here To Kill You) this year ,their xmas album ,"A Manditarily Merry Umas" ,is one of the best things about the holiday season. This group comes highly recommended by yours truly ,and you know I would never steer you wrong ,except in extreme cases.

KAAGOOTAABAA - The Sensitivity Sessions

We've seen ,and heard ,John from Kaagootaabaa ,grow over the succesion of tapes he's been recording since last year. On this all-new ,2 disc set (with a whopping 85 cuts!) ,I was reminded several times of the Royal Trux double-LP masterwork ,"Twin Infinitives" ,and I must say , that this Kaagootaabaa release is the best yet. Recorded over Nov-Dec 2011 ,it sounds as if doing that split with Skindust a while back ,rubbed off on John a little.Pitting pensive ,moody acoustic guitar pieces ,against brutal and sometimes harsh noise pieces,and mixing in some power electronics sounding shit,along with inane vocalizing , is a winning combination on this recording. Split into 2 discs ,the first is, "Songs Of Love And Dance" , is back and forth every other song switching from mellow guitar instumentals ,to ear-blasting slabs of mindless noise. With an obligatory GG Allin cover song. Disc 2 ,"Songs Of Fun" ,include more of the hilarious song titlings ,as the first disc did, and features Dr. Bad Touch on keys ,on one number. Yes, John's come a long way in a short amount of time. Look for Kaagootaabaa on upcoming splits with like-minded artists. A whole lot of Kaagoo ,to take in all at once ,maybe too much fore some,but well worth it! This is the masterpiece John will have to live up to ,and follow-up with something even wilder!(if that's at all possible , I don't see how!)
